Cleaner Approach for Atrazine Removal Using Recycling Biowaste/Waste in Permeable Barriers

This work addresses the rehabilitation of water contaminated with atrazine, entrapping it in a permeable and sustainable barrier designed waste materials (sepiolite) biomaterials (cork pine bark). Atrazine adsorption was assessed by kinetics equilibrium assays desorption tested different extraction solvents. Adsorbed atrazine 100% recovered from sepiolite using 20% acetonitrile solution, while 40% needed to leach cork (98%) bark (94%). Continuous fixed-bed experiments those sorbents as PRB were performed evaluate removal for up-scale applications. The modified dose-response model properly described breakthrough data. highest capacity achieved (23.3 (±0.8) mg/g), followed (14.8 (±0.6) mg/g) (13.0 (±0.9) mg/g). Recyclability evaluated adsorption-desorption cycles. After two regenerations, 81% removal, 78% 54%. Sepiolite had best performance terms capacity/stability. SEM FTIR analyses confirmed no significant differences material morphology structure. study demonstrates that recycling waste/biowaste is option wastewater treatment, valorization environmental protection.
